Warriors beat Mavs and the Experts

The eighth seeded Golden State Warriors upset the number one seed Dallas Mavericks, 4-2 games. The experts and Charles Barkley cooked up a different outlook and they got buried in humble pie.

67 wins DON'T assure you of a title. 3-0 in the regular season DOES matter in the playoffs.

Experts kept believing the Mavs would come back, but they didn't. This is what they all said:

ESPN

Sports Illustrated

NBC Sports

and Yahoo's Steve Kerr

Two eighth seeds have beaten number ones before (Denver beating Seattle in 1994 and New York beating Miami in 1999), but that was before the first round went into the best of 7 format. The Warriors become the first eighth seed team to beat a number one in the new format. If the Warriors get lucky, there's another stat which they can go after. In 1995, the sixth seeded Houston Rockets (led by Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler) became the lowest ranking seeded team to win the NBA championship.
