Daddy's Car
Daddy’s Car
By Raymond Nestor Alfonso Virata
Above is something I drew
which I fondly remember.
It was a car which you drew
Back when I was a toddler.
I was amazed how
your picture made me happy,
especially when you
made it for me, daddy.
Since then I have learned
to draw on my own.
Cars, heroes or anything
my mind has sown.
There are times that
I could scribble on for days,
even making stories
while in my PJs.
I always sketched and etched
as I grew older.
You’d find my drawings on
my notebook corners.
If you have been wondering
on how my day went,
I was probably
drawing up a present.
Though I became a researcher,
computer guy and writer,
I always drew and wound up
as a graphic designer.
Though I never shared
your passion for golf as a sport,
you were always with me
and have given me support.
I share your quietness,
love for boxing and basketball,
but inspiring me to draw is
the greatest gift of all.
